Christmas Carols by Candlelight

Come and join us for our Christmas Carols by Candlelight celebration at St. Georges Community Hall, Walton-on-the-Naze.

Sunday 21st December at 4.30pm - 5.30pm.

Home groups: Our Frinton congregation is divided into a number of midweek home-based groups for worship, fellowship, encouragement, prayer and Bible study. The Walton congregation is split into two groups and they meet midweek.

Busy Bees - This Walton-based Parent, Baby and Toddler group has been meeting on Tuesday mornings for the past 11 years. Busy Bees is led by Sarah Rowland, the wife of Mark, our Walton congregational team leader. Members of the church assist in various practical duties from tea-making to chatting to the mums and dads. The group which meets from 10.00am to 11.30am caters for children up to school age. Sarah says of Busy Bees, “We aim to provide a caring environment where both adults and children can build friendships and where Christian values are commended.”

Art Club - This monthly club, which grew out of the home of two of our church members, Peter and Valerie Hollowbread, now meets at 10 o’clock on the first Wednesday in the month at Coastlands’ drop-in and Resource Centre above our shop. This club is regularly supported by Dawn Hall, a professional local artist.

Leadership Training Course - At Coastlands we place real importance on discipleship and training. For the past 3 years up to a third of our membership have been engaged in a leadership training course, which consists of a number of training days a year covering a variety of topics. These training days are held at our Resource Centre in Walton. It was out of this training programme that our present congregational leadership teams were identified and set into place.

Prayer and Praise - At Coastlands we place an emphasis on the need for corporate as well as personal prayer and praise. As well as our monthly prayer and praise gathering at our Resource Centre where members from both congregations come together on the first Monday evening of the month, each congregation has its own prayer programme. At Walton, folk meet together for early morning prayer twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays). The Frinton congregation meets once a month on the second Monday evening as well as supporting the monthly Frinton Mission prayer breakfast at the Parish church.

Faith Camp 2008

Once a year, during the first week of the summer holidays, several thousand Christians gather together at the East of England showground, Peterborough for worship, fellowship and teaching. This event has been a tremendous source of challenge and blessing for both the folks who attend and also for Coastlands as a whole.

Faith Camp 2008 provided yet another year of inspiration and sound teaching for the large continguent from Coastlands and as always we are all looking forward to Faith Camp 2009.

Frinton Mission 2008

This annual event is organised by FACT – Frinton Area Churches Together, of which Coastlands is an active member. The Frinton Mission takes place every summer at the beginning of the schools holidays, a large Marquee can be seen on the Frinton Greensward, opposite Connaught Avenue. Throughout the week of the Mission activities and programmes are arranged for every age group – from young toddlers up to adults’ events, seeking to share something of the good news of Jesus Christ with all those who attend.

Walton Carnival 2008
Every year in August, Coastland's participate in the Walton Carnival and 2008 was no exception. The Walton Carnival pulls together the local community and this year about 2,000 showed up to watch the carnival and visit the fun-fair. Coastlands' float theme was "Find the greatest treasure Jesus Christ." Many people from our church turned up to help spread the good news by speaking to people and handing out literature. We also pioneered a prayer station which received several prayer requests from locals. This weekend is always a good opportunity to impact our community whilst having a good time. We can't wait till 2009!

Coastlands Away Weekends

Once a year separate weekends are arranged for the men and for the women. These times present a great opportunity for fellowship as folk are able to escape from their normal hectic schedules of work and family life. Over the last couple of years trips have taken folk as far away as Norfolk, Audley End, South Wales and the Lake District .

In June about 25 men took a trip to Hope Valley in Derbyshire. The weekend was pack full of activities inluding mountain walking, climbing and a group meal out at the local carvery.

We're not sure where we are going in 2009 but if you are interested please contact us.
